Lorenzo Romero is CFO of BASIS Educational Ventures, where he oversees the financial management and growth strategy for the company and nearly 40 BASIS-affiliated charter schools operating in Arizona, Texas, Louisiana and Washington, D.C. Previously, he was CEO and president of LSR Consulting, a Phoenix management and strategic consulting firm advising venture-backed startups, middle-market-sized companies, governments and nonprofit organizations on improving operational capabilities, financial planning and implementation. Lorenzo also served as State Budget Director from 2015 to 2017, overseeing Arizona’s $40 billion budget. 

A faculty associate at Arizona State University’s W.P. Carey School of Business, Lorenzo teaches upper division finance and accounting and oversees academic work on veteran homelessness. He is also an advisory board member for Childhelp USA, which advocates for children who suffer from neglect and abuse.  

Lorenzo received his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He also has a master’s in accounting and undergraduate degrees in finance and accounting from the W.P. Carey School of Business.
