The First Place Transition Academy, operated by the Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center (SARRC), is a structured two-year program in the supportive environment of First Place–Phoenix that helps build crucial independent living and career-readiness skills. Participants can maximize their capacity to live more independently through our Learn4Independence® curriculum and individualized services designed for adults with autism.
*Qualified Transition Academy participants who are members of the Arizona Dept. of Economic Security’s Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) and who are eligible for long-term care have the opportunity to receive Arizona Long-Term Care System (ALTCS) supports from SARRC to help with their participation in the Academy. For DDD-ALTCS members, private-pay costs include rent and amenities only, since DDD provides the funding for long-term care services.
